MVADGCAAAS is a social society which brings together chaps who enjoy the finer things in life: wines, ales, travel, walking, fun.....

There are currently two chapters - Middlesbrough and Surrey.

The Lads In the Lakes 2004

Ten of the chaps: Jimmski, Lord Ginger, Crispy, Mr Brown, Raven DBA, Swifty, Bick Truck, Pig Farm Jim, Hitski and Teacher Chris went for a long weekend in the Lake Distict over the 6th-8th February with the aim of having a boys weekend away and to attempt to walk up Scafell Pike.

We stayed in the Fayrer Garden House Hotel in Bowness-On-Windermere. The venue was perfect. It was a very picturesque and nicely appointed hotel but it was the staff who made the place so special. Their attention to detail and friendly professionalism was superb. A big “thank you” to everyone there from the lads. Not only that but the food was wonderful too. We can thoroughly recommend staying there. You won’t be disappointed.

Friday night saw the usual over indulgence of food and drink but not so that it would prevent us getting up the next day for our walk.

The attempt on Scafell Pike on Saturday went ahead despite some reservations about the weather and a few sore heads. We did manage to get up above 700m but the weather and lack of time prevented us from reaching the summit. It was a pity to get so far and to not reach our goal but we felt we had done OK to get as far as we did considering the conditions (thick mist and -21C at the summit and not much warmer where we were).

Sunday saw us return home but not before a quick drive around the beautiful Lake Coniston. The weather on Sunday was cold but sunny. It was a pity it hadn’t been like that on Saturday.

In the end it was another hugely enjoyable weekend away for the lads. Thanks to everyone who came along.
